As I worked out the lyrics Squiddy just kind slipped in there. 
I flew planes, she liked big guns
She ruined all my bombing runs
I wore grey and she wore green
She would always kill my machine
Bang bang, she shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, that Squiddy shot me down.
Campaigns passed and we swapped sides
I had to try the other rides
She saw me coming at Beauvais
As it went black I heard her say

Bang bang, you hit the ground

Bang bang, I flippin' shot you down.
In IL2 I am an ACE
Ai can't stand my aweful pace
Now I'm going down I don't know why

Then a bofors winks from a bush below
My engines gone and then I know

Oh and you were right Wingit, the early Cher version is best.
