so im heading to the sandbox coming up pretty soon and from what ppl have told me, and what ive saw, ppl have been able to play the game.

ive got an HP Dv6936 right now and it has:

15.4-inch
2.00 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5750
4096 MB DDR2
250 GB (5400RPM) Hard Drive
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS with up to 2047 MB total graphics memory with 256 MB dedicated

ive had it for about a year and a half, it used to run 1.30 well enough to fly a bomber, but ever since 1.31 came out she doesnt like it very much only giving me 15-30 FPS.

so i was thinking about getting a new laptop good enough to play the game. i didnt want to to pay more then $1,200. as a buddy at work just spent $2,000 for a new one... i want to get somthing that will last for awhile so dont want to get the bottom of the line and just slide through. i was looking through some computers and found these two:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834127207

and another with a little lower end CPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834114928

HP has good computers but they only sell one with a NVIDIA card and its only a 240M

im planning on sending my 24" monitor over along with a g15 keyboard so i dont think screen size is to worry about except to be a 15.4" minimum

I'll see what I can get on the Toshiba, but the discount won't be much just cuz I'm a Toshiba Employee, the discounts seem to run on the models that don't move
out the warehouse much.

I'll let ya know.

Do you really think you going to have enuff time and bandwidth, too spend 1K in cash for the chance too play?

I'll get back to ya

S!

rgr that

from what im hearing its guna be 12 hour shifts the first couple months and 7 days a week. then once it settles down it will change to 8-10hour shifts and only 6 days a week. from the video conferences we have been doing they were talking about ppl being bored and getting into trouble because of nothing to do...

i guess they have a few companies over there that run as ISPs and they have different plans, like Hughes Net. i checked the prices for that and it ran about $99 for 2mb down and 300k up. from what they were saying today a company called Sniper Hill is a good one out there with a gaming package...it will prolly run $100-120 a month.

if the internet sux i will still be able to play other games. ontop of that my 24" monitor has a TV tuner built in so ill be able to watch TV too without having to buy a TV. oh ya of course im guna bring meh other X52pro :D

ok just had the friend at work with the 2G laptop load up the game and hop around acouple places

he has a HP Pavilion dv8t:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-840QM processor (1.86GHz, 8MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.2 GHz
8GB RAM
1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 230M

we first spawned into a MSP at an Axis town, there was smoke, planes bombing (lol he actually got bombed), friendlys running around and a couple tanks driving around. there i was spawned with my desktop and was getting 25-50FPS and he was getting 25-40FPS

next i had him spawn into antwerp with a spit, i was facing town with 45-55FPS and he was looking S with 45-60FPS

my comp has:

AMD Phenom IIx4 945 3.0ghz
8GB RAM
512MB Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX

what yall think?

It sounds like you need your own C-17 to transport you to the ME. Jeez, the Army sure does spoil you guys. Back in the day, if you couldn't carry it, you didn't need it. :P

hmmm so i just went and found a Sony Vaio at one of the PXes here in town

its the SONY VAIO VPCF122FX

16.4"
Intel Core i7 740QM(1.73GHz up to 2.93GHz)
Nvidia 330M 1GB GPU
4GB DDR3 RAM
500GB (5200rpm) HD
BlueRay Disk combo
$1999.99

it actually runs the game very well, alot better then i expected. i loaded up the game and left the settings at default, which ever it first runs with after the install im assuming "Balanced Mode".

i spawned into a MSP about 1km from town and was getting around 45-55FPS!
i then spawn into a town that was under attack and was still getting 40-50FPS!
finally i spawned into antwerp again and was facing South, there i was getting 59-75FPS!
CPU usage while spawned into antwerp is only 15-20%
and RAM usage is 69%

on top of all that the game is running with all the default HUD items turned on, normally i would turn them off and im sure the FPS would just go up from there.

the overall look of the laptop is nice, clean not bulky. its guna take getting used to this wider screen and keyboard (numpad) with that is one of my dislikes about it. i dont like the mouse pad being off to the left from center...but what can ya do, the only other things it really needs is a few more USB ports (there are only 2) and a few more buttons above the keyboard for controlling the volume instead of having to use Fn+whatever.

so now that brings us to the dilemma, ive got a 14day return time frame for it. the SONY VAIO VPCF12CFX its the same laptop except:

320GB HD
No BlueRay
$150 cheaper Online

i guess ill play around with it until the 14days is up and decide then...

what yall think?
