Wife's Computer Died...

Hmm yet another computer problem.... While i was away last month on my excersise my wifes computer just went black. She says she was playing on my computer and listening to music on hers when the screen just went black, when the computer rebooted its came to the windows loading screen and just sat there. Finally she pressed the reset button, and this time it didnt bring anything up just a black screen with a orange light on the monitor. So she changed out the monitors thinking the monitor might have went out, but yet again still only a black screen. So i told her just to wait till i got home and i would look at it.

I thought it might be the video card so we went out and bought another one and tryed that but it still didnt work. But when i booted the computer up with the case open i noticed the fan on top of the heatsink wasnt spinning very fast, like it normally would. When i booted it up the harddrive data light stayed on, so i thought maybe it was the HD that went out so i unplugged it but yet still nothing on the screen. Then i heard the CD ROM drive making a clicking noise so i unplugged that and the red data light went off but still nothing on the screen... So my thought it that the MoBo went out, because there just isnt anything that comes up on the screen.

i wanted to get a second opinion on this before i go out and spend some more money on a new Motherboard. what yall think?

If the fan was spinning really slow, is it the mobo or the CPU that controls that?

Snippet,

Where were you when that midget dictator in NK lit off that rocket the other day? You should've snuck into the location and LMG'd that thing when it lifted off. :)

lol na my wife and I went up to the DMZ last Tuesday (ill post pix later) while she was off with the tour looking around with the others, i snuck across the line and checked out that rocket everyone was making a stink about... from my expertise I declared it not a threat :toke:

While that may be true, it would have been nice to see it blow up on the launchpad. ;)

ok wtf is going on! :?

the computer worked just fine for a day them poof back to the black screen... so i again took the battery out and waited awhile, but again it wont boot. back to nothing, i thought maybe the battery died and that was having some effect. so i went out and bought another battery just to stick it in the computer but yet still nothing.

guna go ahead and switch out the power supply and see what happens....
