Hey snippet! Ahhh excuse me, Private Snippet, or did they promote your young ass to Corporal yet?

Have you had your greenbean party yet? Soju? Hunch Punch? How about some Yuky mahn due? Really tastes good by the way.

Let's see, DMZ, Pusan, Taegu, Soul Sucks, too damn big, do you know what a yobo is yet?

Damn, training new troops is a bitch.

Now just wait till you see what your brown bean party is like. I bet you blows chunks real nice.

By the way, where the hell did they station you anyway?

Just remember, real men (US Air Force troops} don't need no freakin off base pass!

You meh bitch now dude!!

As a captain in the Norwegian National Guard, I have the command over a company of real men – approximant 210 soldiers. I would like to take this opportunity to say that I do not like your statement Kiz…

It's a joke among military members Thor. Nothing bad about it. I should have specified who the real men are. It's just how we banter and poke fun at each other among the military branches. I'll correct my statement in the above post.

I have all the respect in the world for anyone who serves their country in the military.

You see, in Korea, the best place to party is in the clubs around an Army Base. Why, because they go downtown and spend all their money on the girls, then at midnight, they have to go back to the base. Us Airforce dudes hover just outside their range then, when they have to go back to their Base, we swoop down and take all their girls....roflmao.

   You don't need to take me that serious.

I understand. I have had my trips over and under fences in my days as well... nothing is more fun then sneaking out. I just tried to make a joke - I understand that I'm not good at it...

(note to myself: Damn I'm to serious, need to lighten up. This guys think I'm to stiff and borring)

Ah Snipet in the Far East!
I spent some time there myself, although I mostly saw islands.

Promoted....you only just got there.....

Takes 3 years plus of above standard service to even get any chance of being promoted in the British Army...followed by 6 weeks back to basic training, then only the top man gets promoted (Best student), nomarlly about 30 - 40 men.

Do you get promoted for getting out of bed in time for 5 days in sequence? or for making to lunch on time?

LOL

couldn't resist....starting to become a habbit...

Wishing you all the best Sniper S!

LOL main july will be the 1 year mark that i have been in, i came in as a PFC (thnx to 4 years of JROTC) and it only takes 1 year to go from PFC to SPC. no there is Corporal in the same category as specialist but CPL is in a leadership position, SPC is just the another rank up. its been freebees up till SPC. after that is when promotion points start adding up and it take 2 years to get SGT. of course after the board

what ur talking about sounds like going form Specialist to Sargent. my supervisor is CPL and just got back from the board and is now at a month long leadship course. then its still a mater of time before she gets SGT

I was in Korea from 1979 until 1985. Would have been 22 years old when I first arrived.

My first assignment was in Kunsan and my second in Osan. You're in Seoul aren't you? Damn, too bad. You'll miss all the locals. People in Soul are not country people like Kunsan and Osan. Also, when the Seoul College Students riot, keep your head down. They don't like the US like they use to.

Kids, gotta love em.

aha!

Thank for explaining m8, I hope you didn't feel you had to...I was only pulling your leg m8!

The 6 week course I meant is for Lance Cpl (or in my case Lance Bombardier as I was in the Royal Artillery)for Cpl its another 6 weeks basic training and Sgt takes even longer due to all the schooling involved (can't remember just how long). So you only have the main ranks, but did get extra pay related to your job/task!

Wishing you all the best m8 and looking forward to you getting back in game...hows the laptop hunting going?

A friend of mine was explaining how the Aussie army works to me, I assume it's a bit like the British army.
Apparently it's the corporals who pretty much run things, the sergeant is a bit more of an administrative role, they delegate to the corporals who get things done.
And there's a seniority list, with about the only way to get a promotion is if someone else dies, retires, or otherwise moves up or across.
One of the blokes I fly with is in the RAAF, and has been waiting for a spot for years. Just when it looked like he was going to get one, they restructured, and brought in a guy from the other side of the country, who had less seniority, but somehow landed the job through a loophole. It pissed my mate right off, now he has to wait for someone else to go, could be more years.
