Hi All,

I got a link to this site after joining a factory run lead by Sniper62. I joined at the last minute, and as it was my first time, I had a kind of crash-course in level bombing as we went along. Unfortunately, when we actually got over the target, I found I couldn't see it from 5000m - just a white sheet of clouds. I've read that this has happened to other people before, and will probably be fixed by restarting the game, so I'm hoping for better luck next time.

Since then, I've taken the opportunity to do some offline practicing in level bombing, using the techniques from your guide. I'm not great at it yet (sometimes don't quite get set up quickly enough) but I'm getting better at it, and I think I can add some damage to enemy factories on future missions.

My time zone is GMT+4. At the moment I'm off work for a week, so you may see me around more, depending on where you all are. I'm quite a low rank in the FAF, but high enough to fly a DB7. Anyway, looking forward to flying with you and learning how to do this the right way.

hey good to hear from ya bullneck!

ya level bombing and actually hitting target isnt as easy as we make it sound and look, we have just been doing it for a very long time lol just keep on practicing and youll be able to nail that factory every time!

i hope your able to get the game fixed so you can see the ground from high up soon. most of our guys are US TZs so just keep an eye out, since it a holiday weekend they said they would be playing on monday as well.

its good to hear your interest in level bombing :iconpidu go ahead and ask any questions you might have, and be sure to watch the training videos

Well, I just finished watching the two videos by Codguy, which were very detailed. I didn't really realise the importance of trim for keeping formation, nor how to use the green arrow method to get right on target, so I'm sure they're going to help. As for the issue with seeing the ground, I will let you know after my next run!

yes yes all those things are very important to becoming a good bomber pilot. codguy did a very very good job on those videos, they have helped a lot of people.

practice, practice makes perfect

Did my first successful sortie today - over to Essen and did 17% damage to an untouched factory for 30 points. I couldn't have done it without the videos and the guide here. I planned a route that skirted around the major hotspots, and didn't run into enemies at all. I wouldn't have rated my chances very highly if I had been found by enemy fighters. This time, I could see the ground very well, fortunately. I was annoyed to find that I was badly lined up when I went over. It turned out this was because I hadn't checked my target waypoint, and it seemed to be the icon in the corner of the factory, by default. So I planted another waypoint right in the centre, flew on for around 30km, did a gentle turn without changing altitude and hit it nicely on they way back. Then I returned, keeping at altitude for safety, and got back sooner than I expected - I'd forgotten that it's a much slower trip out, when you have to gain altitude.

Anyway, I think I can hit targets alright now. Keeping in formation might be another issue, so I will try to join missions with you guys whenever I can to practice that!

Bullneck,

Be careful with these Dambuster guys. Right now, they are being real nice to you with the atta-boys and slaps on the back but when they ask you to go fly with them and you form up on the airfield, they'll steal your sheep right out from under you and do the most hideous things to them. Remember, never go AFK around those guys and guard your sheep. When possible, steal any of Kizmet's sheep you can. Those poor wretches have been deprived for a long time. :P
