Dambusters, WHERE ARE YOU?????

Post by ODonovan »

I thought this was going to be a reunion. Instead, I see NO Dambusters on the Allied TeamSpeak server. I see no bombing missions being flown. The Welcome Back, Soldier promotion is half over and there is NOTHING going on. I even ended up flying cover for some 4Wing guys doing some strafing, when all I really wanted to be doing is flying bomber escort.

Is anyone actually going to show up, so I can fly some missions with you guys? I flew escort for doc1168 the other night. He and his dad (jcritter - former Allied CinC) are trying to reform the 17th Bomb Group, but aren't having much success. Why have two bomber units when we don't have enough people for ONE? If some Dambusters were in the air, I'm sure they would join the missions.

I'm still a total rookie in the air. I can't learn very well if there's no one to learn from.

I guess this says it all. This thread has been up for three full days, including over the weekend, and has had zero response.

I started out Welcome Back Soldier by inviting people to this website, and by trying to get some Dambusters together in the air. It's over halfway through the promo and I've had zero opportunity to fly with anyone. How can I justify recommending the Dambusters to anyone when the Dambusters themselves are absent?

I hope to see you guys ingame soon.

Hey bud. I haven't been in game because my wife had surgery. Still really painful for her. I'm way behind on something I promised charlie3 I would do or him. You are more than welcome to use the dambusters channel. Charlie has been on the ground I believe. Don't wait on us to get people flying. Invite and fly even if it's only for training purposes. I do plan on making it in game soon. I have a ball flying with charlie3 and he and I have been playing or almost 14 years together.

Don't give up on us. We'll get things together soon as we can.

It's not about you, Kiz... I've seen your posts on the WWIIOL forums and I know you're around. Your first priority has to be RL and family. But you aren't the only Dambuster out there...neither is Charlie. There should be more than two of you trying to bear the weight of the squadron on your shoulders.

I'll keep at it. I have my fingers crossed. We still have a week left in WBS.

When you are online look for sniper62. He is our famous dambuster. Started with us at age 13. Graduated high school. Went in to the army. Spent one long tour in South Korea then a tour in Iraq. His job in Iraq has landed him a nice cushy job with a government contractor in the Washington DC area. He works in Information Technology and more specifically he is a Video Conference Guru who still handles encrypted Video Conference sessions. We're all very proud of him. He is an excellent bomber pilot, flies 3 bombers at a time. Don't ask me how, I have no clue and could in no way concentrate that much to fly three at a time. Heck, I think he's probably flown 2 bombers and his own fighter escort, but he never tells us about that.....LOL.

Don't loose this recruit sniper. Old head that comes with friends. Old groundie just like we were before we started the Dambusters.

Irish, we can't make people play the game, it's up to them to get back into the game and bum around with old friends and kill little grey things...I believe the welcome back soldier program goes until the 18th which is this weekend, so there is still time to get in and play for free. I just got back from a two week vaca last week and the game rolled into an intermission. Today they released 1.34.12 and it has a few brand new toys in it for the ground guys. Even that though is a very good thing for the game and it's a new map!

With Wiretap back up, I've got some work to do with it but I should be able to hop back into game here and there.

Downloading the client finally. Sure was late. Standard practice I guess. Anyway, soon as the download finishes up, I'll install it and we'll see how it goes. Still waiting to hear back from charlie.

I didn't have to do anything special to get the update. I just fired up the game like usual and the updater did the rest. I hope that means I got the entire update and not just part of the patch.

BTW, I sent a couple emails to Tuxedo, but haven't heard anything back. He was saying three of them (him, his son, and their friend) were all going to be playing, but I haven't seen hide nor hair of any of them.

Was on or a while. Spoke with XOOM or about a half hour on TS. Didn't get to fly. Started getting Time Out Waiting on Connection error. I'll work on it some more tomorrow.

BTW, someone mentioned the R&D aspect of strategic bombing, in the forum. I was quick to second the idea of putting it back into the game. If you see that, drop a note on it that you like the idea as well. The more we can get that idea in folks' minds, the more likely the Rats are to consider putting it back.

We all should be following your lead and talking it up in game and in the forums. You do excellent work. Hope to see you this evening.

Sorry I missed you last night John

My kid needed the computer. Also, my son's phone broke. He has been using mine for a few weeks so if I don't answer a call/text right away, it's not because I'm ignoring you!

Irish... last time I saw you in game it looked like you were part of 101? Were you wanting to be a Dambuster then? If yes, keep in mind that this is not really an active squad nor does it look like it's going to revert to one anytime soon.

It will likely take more than one patch to get our numbers healthy again.

Actually, I'm currently a member of 12th Royal Lancers (Lancers). They're my ground pounding tutors from when I joined up a few months ago. I want to do more flying, though. I need a LOT of practice. I love that we can multi-crew now, since this patch supposedly fixed it. I think, between practicing flying, I can do some time as gunner, and maybe get some kills. ;) It's not that I don't like being infantry. It's just that I've been killed SO many times by folks who could not have known where I was ahead of time, I'm just suspicious that a lot of people are using hacks and the Rats just can't catch them at it.

Example:

I'm hiding prone, inside a building, around an out of the way corner. No one has ANY reason to think anyone would be there. A German soldier comes around the corner. He's walking sideways with his weapon already pointed down at the exact angle he needs to kill me. He takes one step around the corner and fires before I can even hit my mouse button to fire MY weapon. He didn't even need to move to aim, because he was already aimed directly at me before he rounded the corner. WTF is that?

It's safer in the air! :)
